This past weekend Isabella, Mamaw, Papaw and I drove to Louisville to see Uncle James, Aunt Danielle and her cousin Evelyn. An hour and a half doesn't seem so far away, but busy schedules and toddlers make it difficult to get together.
Isabella was entertained on the ride there by an Elmo DVD and was very excited to hear that we were going to see Evelyn. Since their last visit Isabella's been calling "Evan" on her toy phone. Being five months apart, they have a lot in common it seems.
The girls played on the swing set and super fast slide, rocked in the hammock with each other and with Papaw, splashed in the pool and finished it off with a bowl of ice cream. Isabella really enjoyed the fold out tunnel they had in the living room. Everything went smoothly and we had a wonderful visit except, that is, for Isabella's blood curdling screams whenever the family King Charles Spaniel, Mia, strolled by a little too closely. Eventually she warmed up to Mia, even kissing her in the mouth. It reminded me of when she was a baby, under a year. She loved (and still loves, contrary to the belief of those who witnessed her terror this weekend) dogs. She would reach out her hands to pet them and cry in fear at the same time. My crazy baby.
I hope we can visit Evelyn & family again soon, and especially can't wait for their new addition Madeline, due in October!
cute girls!
